SRK doesn't regret refusing Slumdog

Shah Rukh Khan has a knack of staying in the limelight. First it was the success of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi that broke the jinx for Yash Raj at the box office in 2008, then the Golden Globe presentation and now all the item numbers for his upcoming movie Billoo Barber.

But for once he seems to have missed out on a huge opportunity to soak in the glory of a critically acclaimed, international award winning project! Yes we are referring to the Golden Globe winner Slumdog Millionaire.

Danny Boyle had initially approached Shah Rukh for Slumdog Millionaire for the role of game-show host but King Khan refused. As luck would have it, the role went to the veteran actor Anil Kapoor.

Though Shah Rukh claims he isn't complaining at all. Talking to the media he said that he has no regrets about turning down the role, which has put Anil Kapoor into the global limelight.

Praising Anil Kapoor for his work, SRK said that Kapoor has done a fabulous job and deserves the adulation he has received. Some of the other famous rejects of Shah Rukh inlcude the Oscar nominates Lagaan, the hugley popular Munnabhai MBBS and moore recently the Three Idiots.

There were rumours that the original choice for the role was Amitabh Bachchan, but the film's casting director Loveleen Tandon denied such reports.

Kajol back with Karan after eight years

Bollywood actress Kajol reunites with director Karan Johar for his film My name is Khan, opposite Shah Rukh Khan, after a gap of eight years. The green-eyed actress had earlier worked with Karan in his directorial venture Kuch Kuch Hota hai.

My name is Khan SRK playing a person suffering from an autism related disorder, who gets into trouble with cops abroad especially because of his surname 'Khan'. Kajol plays SRK's better-half in the film.

It is one of the most awaited films of 2009 as it brings together the hit trio of SRK, Kajol and Karana Johar. Let's hope the trio is able to recreate their magic again.

Inside SRK's house

He is one of India's biggest stars, and as a result, his house is one of India's largest. Take a look inside Shah Rukh Khan's house that is called Mannat.

















In the blogosphere, among all celebrity houses, SRK's is considered one of the best.
















In fact, fans across the world refer to Mannat as a palace. And it seems they are not wrong.


















Mannat was originally a heritage building that King Khan bought and converted into a luxury house.

















About two years ago, SRK was in trouble because of his house when a resident of the area filed a PIL against the building and the permissions it got.

















Luckily, the site got a clean chit and now SRK and his family inhabit the palatial house.


















The six-floored Mannat is situated in the Bandra region in Mumbai.

















It was recently discovered that SRK used a part of his house to shoot his commercials. This is done so that he can spend more time at home.






















According to reports, the house has been built in such a way that two floors are dedicated for shooting commercials.

















Ads like Dish TV and Airtel have been shot inside his house.


















The hind side of the house, which is another wing all together, has a gym that was key in giving SRK his famous six-pack. Even his office is in that part of the house.

Shah Rukh Khan to be Datuk on Dec 6

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is set to be conferred the Malaysian title of ‘Datuk’, akin to the British knighthood, on Dec 6 and he is expected to receive the honour in traditional Malaysian attire. The traditional Malaysian black costume with a waistband, a songkok and a black cap is the official attire to receive the award from the Malaccan royal chief, Yang di-Pertua Negri Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob.

The actor will receive his Darjah Mulia Seri Melaka award at a ceremony at 10 a m at Dewan Seri Negri, Ayer Keroh, in the presence of 1,000 invited guests, The Star newspaper said on Tuesday. The actor, who was to have received the award on Saturday, had to reschedule his trip due to his tight working schedule. He is scheduled to be in Malaysia for three days.

State Secretary Omar Kaseh confirmed that Shah Rukh would be in Malacca for a day.

The actor is immensely popular among Malaysians and had shot the film one 2 ka 4 and a song sequence from his blockbuster Don in Malacca.

His being conferred the Datukship had stirred up much controversy with many questioning whether he really deserves it. Critics had asked what Shah Rukh had done for Malaysia to deserve a Datukship. They also took up cudgels on behalf of local artistes.

Malaccan authorities, however, say Shah Rukh’s shoot in Malaysia had benefitted the country immensely, giving it global publicity without any money being spent. Indian films are popular in Malaysia that has an estimated 2.6 million ethnic Indians.

Salman gate-crashes SRK’s b’day

King Khan, who turned 43 on Sunday, invited the who’s who of Bollywood for his birthday bash at his residence Mannat but friend turned foe Salman Khan was left out of the celebrations. In fact Salman’s sister-in-law Malaika Arora Khan, who has done quite a few item numbers with Shah Rukh, was also on the guest list. She along with her sister Amrita Arora were present at the bash.
The guest list also included his close buddies Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Arjun Rampal, Hrithik Roshan, Sushmita Sen and Farhan Akhtar among others. According to reports, Salman who was offended by SRK’s decision went to the venue and stopped his bike outside Mannat to see things. Apparently when reporters tried clicking him Sallu just left the venue.
Salman and SRK had parted ways after a brawl at Katrina Kaif’s birthday.

SRK's Datuk title kicks up row in Malaysia

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan may be hugely popular in Malaysia but his being conferred the title of 'Datuk', akin to the British knighthood, has stirred up a controversy with many questioning whether he really deserves it. "Politicians, professionals and the man on the street are hotly questioning the wisdom of the move," The Star newspaper said.

Adverse comments include one that says "he hardly knows where Malacca is" and "what has he done to promote Malacca in his songs and movies?". "SMSs received by The Star also hit out at the move, demanding that such awards be given to local artistes," the paper said.

Shah Rukh did not attend the ceremony on Saturday at which the Sultan of Malacca, Yang di Pertua Negri Tun Mohammed Khalil Yakoub, conferred the title on a number of dignitaries on his 70th birthday. Former Malaysian finance minister Daim Zainuddin, who had suggested to Yakoub that Khan be given the title, said the move was a way to promote Malacca.

Defending his recommendation, Zainuddin pointed out that Shah Rukh had shot the movie One 2 Ka 4 at the Famosa Resort in Alor Gajah in 2001. "This resulted in many people visiting Malacca. The award was given in recognition of this," said Malacca Chief Minister Mohammed Ali Rustam.

Shah Rukh was given the Darjah Mulia Seri Melaka (DMSM), which carries the title Datuk that can be used by the recipient as a prefix to the name. The recipient's wife can also call herself 'Datin'. Although a fan of the Indian actor, businesswoman Fatimah Tahir said she was "stunned" to hear that he was being conferred Datukship.

"I thought the award is given to those who have contributed to Malacca's development. I wonder whether Shah Rukh knows where Malacca is," Tahir, 40, was quoted as saying. "I am happy for him but does he even know he is getting the award?" asked lawyer Nizam Bashir.Lim Kit Siang, advisor of the opposition Democratic Action Party (DAP), also pitched for the local artistes, three of whom got a lower honour that does not carry any title.

Lim's take was that if Khan deserved to be a Datuk, so did Hollywood stars Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones, who shot the movie Entrapment in the country 1999.
